The Award Ceremony of the Outstanding Female Faculty celebrating International Women’s Day was held at the International Academic Exchange Center on March 4th. Zhou Jianbo, Vice-Secretary of the Party Committee and Secretary of Committee for Discipline Inspection of HUST, attended the meeting. Professor Yang Xin was awarded the honor of “Outstanding Female Faculty of HUST” of the year of 2019-2020.
Professor Yang Xin has been working in the School of Electronic Information and Communications since 2014. She specialized in medical artificial intelligence and has made a series of significant breakthroughs. She also published more than 60 papers in international core journals and conferences as the first author/ corresponding author, guided three projects supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and won the Shi Qingyun Female Scientist Prize of the China Society of Image and Graphics. Her research achievements have been applied in many Grade III Level A hospitals and corporations in China.
When COVID-19 pandemic raged, the AI system against the pandemic developed by the research team under the leadership of Professor Yang Xin was put into practice in over 300 hospitals, which was highly praised by Sun Chunlan, Vice-Premier of the State Council. The program “Fight against COVID-19 with the help of AI” guided by Professor Yang won the first prize in “Internet Plus” Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition in 2020.
Professor Yang Xin dedicates herself to educating students and has gained good reputation among her students. Eight of her students have won the China National Scholarship during the past six years.
