The second forum on home network technology co-organized by the School of Electronic Information and Communications (EIC) at Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Huawei Songshan Lake Research Institute of Huawei and Huawei optical product line was held in Dongguan, Guangdong Province, from July 19 to 20, 2021. A number of famous academicians and top experts in the field of home network attended the meeting and exchanged their views on the technology of F6G and FTTR and their development. Experts and scholars from EIC, including Qiu Caiming, Zhu Guangxi, Liu Yingzhuang, Yin Haifan, Wang Desheng, Wu Weimin, Wang Wei and Cai Yang, attended the meeting.

  At the opening ceremony, Professor Qiu Caiming, IEEE Fellow, National High-level Talent and Dean of EIC, Zhu Xiaoyong, Head of the R&D Management Department of Huawei optical product line, and Chen Fengqi from Huawei Songshan Lake Research Institute extended their warm welcome to the present experts and scholars. Qiu Caiming pointed out that the indoor short-distance wireless access accounts for 70% of the all kinds of access methods of home network, the demand for which is essential to the development of the technology in the future. The Innovation Center for Home Network Advanced Technology jointly established by EIC and Huawei optical product line will stay committed to the research on advanced technology and will be built into an industry-education-research-practice platform in the field of home network.

  At the keynote speech session, Professor Zhang Ping, Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, from Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications delivered a speech; Professor Luo Zhiquan, Academician of the Academy of Science of the Royal Society of Canada and Vice-president of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen, made a speech on “Applied Mathematics and Communication Network Technology - the Performance Model and its Optimization Methods”; Doctor Chang Tianhai, Head of the R&D Department of Huawei optical product line gave a presentation on “Fiber to the Room - how to improve the quality of home network”; Professor Liu Yingzhuang from EIC delivered a speech themed on “The Key Technology and Prospect of F5G/ F6G”; Professor Hong Wei, Dean of the School of Information Science and Engineering at Southeast University, made a speech on “Millimeter Wave ICs and Systems for Wireless Communications”; Professor Chen Zhining from National University of Singapore delivered a speech on “The Challenges and Application of Millimeter Wave Antenna”; Professor Xue Quan, Dean of the School of Electronic and Information Engineering at the South China University of Technology made a speech on “A Millimeter Wave Transceiver Chip Integrating Antenna-in-Package. In addition, more than 30 professors and scholars from over 20 universities and research institutes in China and abroad shared their latest research results of home network. Of them, Professor Yin Haifan from EIC gave a speech on “The Reconfigurable Intelligent Surface- based Wireless Communication -the Prototype and Experiment Results”, and Professor Giuseppe Caire from Technical University of Berlin, IEEE Fellow, former president of IT Society of IEEE and winner of Leibniz Prize, made a report on “Multicell multi-antenna systems: scheduling in the presence of MU-MIMO”.

  Experts and scholars had an in-depth discussion on the latest research results of home network in the industry and academic community and its possible development . The forum, as one of the achievements of the cooperation between EIC and Huawei, shows the profound influence of EIC on the industry-education-research cooperation in the field of short-distance wireless access.
