On the afternoon of September 10, EIC held symposium for the representatives of young teachers. Zheng Xiaojian, Secretary of the school party committee, Qiu Caiming, Dean of EIC, and representatives of young teachers of EIC attended the symposium.
Zheng Xiaojian first extended congratulations to the young teachers, and then conveyed the expectations of Chinese President Xin Jinping on Chinese teachers that Chinese teachers should strive to be diligent, down to earth and innovative, to set good examples for students, to cultivate all-round students both in learning and morality, and to continuously make contributions to the country.
At the symposium, the representatives of young teachers not only expressed their thanks for the help and support provided by EIC, but also put forward their opinions on and suggestions. Liu Qiong shared her experience of how did she change from a doctoral student to a college teacher during the past twelve years. Cultivating students makes her feel honourable to be a teacher. Zhong Yi suggested that more opportunities be provided for young teachers to carry out academic exchange with each other, and a pubic platform be established to enable young teachers to conduct cross-over research together. Gao Yayu suggested that EIC provide more opportunities for young teachers to communicate with experienced teachers in career planning, teaching, and academic research. Tang Zuping and Liang Kun all mentioned the responsibilities of teachers. Teachers should maintain mental contact with their students and pay close attention to the students who have difficulties in both life and learning.
Qiu Caiming continuously interact with the young teachers and gave feedback to the opinions and suggestions pout forward by them. He not only shared his teaching experience, but also introduced the possible supportive policies for young teachers, such as establishing public research platforms and cross-over research platforms. He also pointed out that EIC will continue to hold various academic exchange activities for young teachers.
After carefully listening to the opinions proposed by the teachers, Zheng Xiaojian and Qiu Caiming expressed that EIC will implement a series of supportive policies for young teachers, such as enhancing exchanges between young teachers and young teachers, and between young teachers and experienced teachers who have rich experience in teaching and project application,to facilitate the self-improvement of young teachers at EIC.
