Title: Lattice partition based physical-layer network coding
Abstract: Physical-layer network coding (PNC) is a means to improve the throughput in wireless communication models. In this talk, we shall first review the basic concept of physical-layer network coding over a two-way relay channel and, from an information-theoretical point of view, compare the performance of PNC with other transmission schemes such as routing, network-layer network coding, and analog network coding. Next, I will revisit the elegant algebraic framework of nested lattices to model PNC such that PNC can be practically designed and adopted in a more general wireless multiple-access relay network. In particular, PNC over the lattice structure of Gaussian integers and of Eisenstein integers will be emphasized.
